RSVP Volunteer Recognition Details Each year RSVP of Lake County celebrates the accomplishments of RSVP volunteers and the RSVP Program by hosting a breakfast in September. Every member of RSVP is invited to attend. Many of the volunteer station coordinators and public and private officials attend this event and give thanks to the many hours the volunteers contribute. RSVP members who achieve 20 hours of volunteer service within the RSVP volunteer year (July 1 – June 30) are invited to attend the breakfast event free of charge. If a volunteer has not accrued 20 hours of service, then they are asked to pay $11 to attend. Any non-RSVP guest is required to pay $13 to attend. Invitations are sent in mid-August and include a return reservation form. After RSVP receives the reservation form, the volunteer is sent a confirmation postcard which is required at the door the day of the breakfast as an entrance ticket. Each year over 600 people attend the RSVP Volunteer Recognition Event. There is musical entertainment, special awards and door prizes. The menu consist of egg soufflé, bacon, has brown potatoes, fresh fruit with muffins and pastries on each table. Orange juice and coffee are served at each table. Also with the invitation to Recognition, each volunteer is given notice of any hourly or yearly awards they may be eligible to receive. If the volunteer wishes to receive the designated item (tee-shirt, pin, certificate, key chain, mug, etc) they are asked to call the RSVP office to officially place their request. After the event, RSVP places the orders for the items and calls the volunteer in October to pick up the item and all mailable items are sent directly to the volunteer. |
